OMEGA is an old band from England. Even though it was regarded as an N.W.O.B.H.M. act it wasn’t. OMEGA’s real musical style was progressive rock with some traditional metal guitar parts. The band was formed by Steve Graigner (guitar, keyboards) in 1980 under the name of APOCALYPSE. The stuff of APOCALYPSE is also being re-released by High Roller Records nowadays on a double CD compilation. “The Prophet” was originally released on Rock Machine (basically a subdivision of punk label Razor Records) in 1985. This was the only full length album of OMEGA but they also contributed with the track "Blood Sacrifice" for Metal Warriors Compilation (Ebony Records, 1983). The line up consisted of Dave Robertson (bass, vocals), Nick Brent (guitars, vocals), Steve Grainger (lead guitars, keyboards, vocals) and Graham Roberts (drums).

It fathoms me as to why this release didn't get the praise it deserves. Galder, the main man behind the band fueling out the vocals, guitars and synthesizers rips it up on all departments. The rhythms seem to fall into place in every way. Nothing bad to say about the album. It features guitar riffs that are a combination of bar chords galore fitting the music quite well alongside aggressive tremolo picked riffs with blast beating drums. The music on here is entirely original sounding and well keyed in synthesizers that augment the guitar. Sounds like Galder tunes to standard on here, but I could be wrong.

William Tsamis is the mastermind of the mighty WARLORD, but except for WARLORD he has also created LORDIAN GUARD. He also released this album on his own back in 1996. “Sea of Tranquility” was only released on cassette form. The songs for this album were originally recorded in 1993-1994. The style of the album is something different from the previous works of Tsamis. “Sea of Tranquility” has NOTHING to do with rock and metal. The style of the music could be characterized as keyboard based atmospheric music with many piano parts. I should also say that the album is instrumental and that it lasts 35 minutes. I would say that this album is beyond the scope of our webzine. The whole album is full of lyrical and epic parts.

Bellowing out some dark and original riff writing featuring 2 genres of metal, melodic death/melodic black, DISSECTION really pegs away at these genres. I'd say the production quality was quite raw, though you can hear the riffs pretty well in somewhat high definition. A real masterpiece of songwriting that is not copied by the band when they did riffs Jon pretty wrote all of the tracks and his vocals were dark and echo-sounding on the recording which makes the album sound more dark and dismal. He never was that well respected on leads, but harmonies he shines upon. DISSECTION hits home on this release if your forte is melodic metal in general.
