FIAKRA – Invasion

Who doesn’t like traditional metal with all these so called clichés that made us bang our heads for so many years? If you don’t then probably you are here by chance. FIAKRA are sincere about their intentions in their debut release.

They don’t want to be innovative or progressive; they just want to play heavy metal in the 80’s traditional way. So on “Invasion” you will get speedy compositions and high – pitched vocals. The interesting thing with FIAKRA is that they use keyboards that give a personal touch to their sound, but this combination of traditional metal instruments and keyboards is not always successful for FIAKRA. I have to admit that the guys are passionate about heavy metal music, but their compositions seem to lack of inspiration and fantasy. They have some good moments, but the whole album left me with the feeling that something was missing. I think that something holds back the band from giving to the songs the boost they need to become memorable. Maybe they should try to work more on melodies and leads rather than trying to play to the extreme. They have the talent, but they need to mold it in order to give us a work that is worth to be mentioned.
